There was a time when building watches in Detroit seemed like a crazy idea too.
In 2012 we set out to build the first watch factory in Detroit and to create jobs by doing so. Today we achieved that goal and have since opened a leather factory, employing over 200 individuals in manufacturing through that effort. To further our mission, we embarked on a journey into the audio category, starting with a turntable. As we introduce each new category we gain further traction in reaching our goal of creating more jobs. Introducing TheRunwell Turntable
This turntable is the result of over a year of close partnership between Shinola and some of the best American minds in audio. The Shinola Audio team, under the leadership of Alex Rosson, designed and engineered every detail with legendary American turntable maker VPI. Shinola Watches and Turntables are built in the USA from US and imported parts.
Initially produced in a limited run of 500, The Runwell is a precision crafted piece: it delivers high quality audio and is ready to use out of the box. All the components, including a moving magnet cartridge and a custom phono preamplifier, are assembled and tested in full view of the public at the Shinola Headquarters store in Detroit.
